Topsy-Turvy Senior Manx GP

In a sensational and thrilling climax to the manx Grand Prix, newcomer John Simpson took the laurels after a dramatic last lap in rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.Andy Soar made it a newcomer one-two, and Triumph took the top spot for the first time in the Senior Manx since Don Crossley’s victory in 1948!
The final circuit saw 3 different leaders with Wayne Kirwan ahead by over a minute at the start of the lap, then the news came from Glen Helen that Dennis Booth was on a charge and closing the gap to Kirwan, and  Simpson, from a high start number, also closing.By Ballaugh Bridge Booth was leading, and at the Ramsey commentary position, it became clear that Dennis Booth had overhauled Kirwan and was holding a small but steadily expanding lead, which was pushed out to almost forty seconds over Simpson at the Bungalow on the last lap, then unfortunately for Dennis he came off at the 33rd Milestone with victory in his grasp. He was taken by airmed to Nobles hospital for assessment. With tensions mounting on the Glencrutchery Road start/finish line, it was John Simpson, in his first ever Manx Grand Prix taking the Senior title for Triumph, with another Newcomer Andy Soar, left speechless after sealing the runner-up spot with the fastest last lap of the race at 21:48.37 (103.815mph) moving Soar up from seventh place on the final lap to take the runner up spot and relegating Wayne Kirwan to the final podium spot to add to his Junior Manx win earlier in the week.Changing weather conditions mid-race meant that the Air Ambulance was extremely busy, with a host of riders having to be airlifted to Nobles hospital. So, the Senior wrapped up another thrilling Manx Grand Prix week on the Isle of Man, and the worlds most dangerous racing circuit produced more classic racing and, sadly, more bereaved relatives.

The TT 2013 is scheduled to run from May 25 to June 7.
